Z "WHAT IS STRANGE DISC SPORTS?"

We all have dreams...A simple thought which clouds the mind whether you are sleeping or conscious.  Some dreams are spawned from whatever may be on someone's mind while sleeping.  Some dreams are created in a conscious state of mind, like desires to travel the World or wanting to be someone famous.  Then there are "Strange Dreamz"...These dreams come from a dark place.  A place where nobody in their right mind would want to be while in their pursuit of happiness.  "Strange…

CASEY Horning's Hideout

A dirt road meanders through the thick forest and descends gently toward incredible meadow lands with rolling hills. There are no gates or private property postings-just a simple sign: Welcome Home.

Mike appeared from the shadows of a structure to drop what he was doing and show me the grounds in a golf cart. We zoomed around, up-and-down, checking out the best camp sites, the lake, the stage, and most importantly-the 3 separate locations for hole 1.

How often do you get the…

CASEY Dave

Just outside of Troutdale and a hand-full of miles south of the Columbia River, just east of Portland, OR there is a picturesque park named Dabney.

I happened along a golfer named Dave today. Without any plans or organized agenda for a Sunday morning round, we joined forces and drove into this beautiful state park in early May.…

CASEY Beaver State Fling Preview

For those of you that have not seen the crazy amount of growth in the disc golf circuit, it may surprise you to know that the Beaver State Fling sold out in about 6 minutes via online registration at PDGA.com. I'm content with showing up 6 minutes before a tournament begins so my hopes were shattered before there was even a chance. Belated at best a consolation of entering this years Milo… Continue

Robbie Pitzer mardi gras

Hello all strange fans. I am writing y'all from New Orleans and I am now one year older. This has been my first Mardi Gras. And it was as crazy as everyone said it was going to be. And we did somehow play some disc golf. Lafreniere Park is the New Orleans DGC. It had 24 holes. They were pretty much in an open field with some big trees and tucked in pin positions. They was some water on a couple holes. I did throw a start xcalaper right in the drink

So I had had the hardest… Continue

CASEY cross country carpool

Before we delve into a summary of a winter of disc golf in Oregon it would be appropriate to briefly mention how I arrived back on the west coast from South Carolina.

Immediately following the final round of the USDGC (congrats Nikko) Kris Zahm and I helped guide Jay Harbour of Huk Lab and bad ass Liz Carr through the laberynth that is Charlotte's Web DGC. It was a wonderful conclusion to an introduction of east coast golf fueled by motivational factors rooted by Strange Disc…

Robbie Pitzer Gas Moneys lol

Monday, January 25, 2010

It is right around the corner from tax season. And i could really use that money on this trip plus I got a call for a two day job for this Friday and Saturday. It would help us big time with gas on the trip. So with all that it looks like we could be on the road Feb 2nd. That leaves two weeks to get to Mardi Gras, and my birthday. I will keep the same schedule but just change the dates. Wednesday the 27th of Jan, the Winnebago goes to get a whole new muffler. So… Continue

Robbie Pitzer Getting back on track

Hello all. Well today is Jan 22nd, 2010. I left off 9 days ago and didn't even Make it two miles down the interstate 85. But luckily we had my buddy Chris with us and after he working his magic, he got us off the side of the road once again. So we had to change the carburetor in the parking lot of Advance Auto Parts. Still just barely made it home. So we replaced the hole distributor, the cap, the fuel pump, and the starter relay. And low and behold It was just the distributor was the problem… Continue

Robbie Pitzer wonderful start to a bad day

, 2010

Bad start

The day started about the best day of my life. But things changed real fast. As soon as we hit our first main interstate, disaster struck. Trying to get up to speed, the carburetor up to the fast pace of I85. We made it only two and a half miles until we were dead stopped on the side of the road. But luckily our mechanic Chris Cirou saved us once again. He did his magic and made it go 20 miles an hour top speed. We made it off of I85 outside of Pendleton. After… Continue

Then a short two hour ride to our first course ( White Oak Park Dallas GA). We are going to hit two courses tomorrow before we find a place to sleep in or around Heflin , AL. We were… Continue

Robbie Pitzer giving the bago a bath

So hello all. Hopefully we are leaving with in the week. They say it might snow tonight so I got the heat on in the Winnebago. Trying to test the waters i guess. I hope we are going south fast enough to not need the heat a lot. But I heard that this winter might be a record breaking winter. So as soon as we get to Mardi Gras the better. Then we head to Florida as fast as possible. So dealing with the cold is going to be a test for all of us. Until next time

Robbie Pitzer Getting closer to leaving on my trip

Had a great day today. Started the day with a trip to the flea market. Got some long johns and some wool socks. They say this winter might be record breaking cold temperatures. So trying to get ready for the cold. Well after the Flea market, Chris installed a new starter relay. And got the bago to start up like a champ. Then took it to get the oil changed. So nothing left other then to clean the winne and collect our last paychecks. Then we are off. Hopefully in the next Five days. So I'll let… Continue

Robbie Pitzer bad starter relay

Hello all. I have been working on the winne today. Went out this morning and tried to start it amd to my surprise it didn't start. Seems that the starter relay is not getting a good enough connection. So we cleaned it off with some sand paper. Still to no result. So I had to go to Napa and order a new one. So tomorrow the winne will have a new starter relay. It seems that every new day, comes a new problem. Hopefully we find all our little problems now and not on our trip. Good news, My friend… Continue

Robbiepitzer's south east winter tour

Hello my name is Robbie Pitzer. And me and my two best friends are taking a disc golf trip from Jan 2nd to the end of march in my 1972 winnebago. Starting out near Atlanta GA going though Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas. Then back though Louisiana to the panhandle of Florida. To the tip then up the coast, all the way up to Charleston SC. We have planned 82 courses for the trip. But I understand that there might be something that change that. The… Continue

CASEY What Now?

Just can't stand anticlimactic conclusions. In my eyes it helps to perceive destinations as yet another journey waiting to begin. It will help my depiction of the east coast while the page is upturned with a tac as memorial weekend jumpstarted my introduction to one promising season. Feelings of jubilation reminded me of the adrenaline of an early release on the final day of school where nothing can interrupt the contagious excitement for another… Continue

CASEY Amarillo

It's peculiar how nuance takes form with those imaginary state lines. Texas has the most Ford Mustangs per-capita and may be the only area where you'll find competitive disc golfers in Wrangler's. State lines within our country have certainly allowed for uniqueness of expression making these imaginary borders so defined that, in a way, they're visible.

Another full circle development took place in Amarillo. While I was painting a house in Boise shortly before this trip, fellow… Continue
