Humboldt County

I mean really-are you kidding me?

First and foremost the camping situation in and around the Arcata/Eureka is suspicious. I wouldn't reccomend looking on the side of a dirt road near sunset with evidence of horticulture driven pursuits scatterd amongst those gently flowing foothills falling slowly towards the sea. Needless to say I ended up in the safety net of a Huboldt State University parking lot.

I had to move my truck around 7:00 a.m. to avoid any violations so decided to chance… Continue

Redwoods!

"My name is treetop and I'm higher than you'll ever be" Widespread Panic

This sign at the base of one of the Giants caught my attention

Lake Selmac DGC

25 or 30 miles south of Grant's Pass there is a quaint little lake named Selmac. Arriving quite late I decided to find a campsite opposed to playing a sunset round on the old boy scout camp. Turns out the log road was closed a couple miles up the hill so I parked in a turnabout at the closed gate. With no view and rain ensuing, I perched up in the good ole' trusty strange camper shell for the night.

Morning came. A little more rain. Determined to play the course, I doubled up on the scotch… Continue

Whistler's Bend DGC

What a seldom affair when one can hunt for peace daily. It's so much easier to find it away from the congregation of the city. I feel so lucky and free to be able to roam in special places like Glide-just east of Roseburg-75 miles south of the University of Oregon.

It's tricky embracing these places aware that my views are so few-just passing through. Luckily… Continue
