Strange Disc Sports

Before we delve into a summary of a winter of disc golf in Oregon it would be appropriate to briefly mention how I arrived back on the west coast from South Carolina.
Immediately following the final round of the USDGC (congrats Nikko) Kris Zahm and I helped guide Jay Harbour of Huk Lab and bad ass Liz Carr through the laberynth that is Charlotte's Web DGC. It was a wonderful conclusion to an introduction of east coast golf fueled by motivational factors rooted by Strange Disc Sports.

The following afternoon Zahm and me mobbed out of SC headed west via Tennessee. We made a pit stop in Cookeville, TN to grub down and hit up an evening round. I've heard about Tennessee sunsets but underestimated and validity until I was smothered and overtaken by one. Looking toward the horizon helped calm my sense of awareness as we began to cross the country once again.

Kris' legally modified star Z-caliber

We met up Lars of LSDiscs halfway through the round. He had the same agenda-pit stop sunset round on a westward route toward Topeka, KS. We made plans to drive through the night and meet up in Topeka for a place to crash. We made it to Lake Shawnee DGC just before sunrise to find out that Lars didn't quite make it to Kansas and was camped out along the road somewhere inbetween. We decided to try and sleep in the ole' Chevy but with the combination of freezing temps., high winds and a relentless lawn mower-I made the rasch decision to fuck start my day with some cheap coffee and continue the haul.

27 hours after leaving SC we arrived at the house of one of Kris' relatives for some mandatory R+R. I would have slept on a bed of nails surrounded by a pit of snakes at that point so these pink accents in Denver, CO were more than managable.

It puts things in perspective when you can cover most of the country in one full day. After all, we are only a day away from tomorrow and as for today, I'm in Eugene, OR where more minds are open than closed and my needs for disc golf are pleasantly met.
